Composer and guitarist Ask Kjærgaard, educated from The Royal Academy of Music Aarhus, is working within a artistic field best described as ‘Sound Movies’ or ‘Sound Novels’. His latest release Store Træers Grønne Mørke (The Green Darkness of Big Trees) is music composed for a short story about a mentally ill man and his way to recovery, written by Danish author Naja Marie Aidt. The story is read by danish actor Jens Albinus and the music uses elements of both classical music, inspired by Dmitri Shostakovich, as well as heavy doom metal guitars, played by a string trio and Ask Kjærgaard himself on guitars and keyboards.
